ITA Membership


There are several categories of ITA membership:


Regular Member: This level of membership is if you are in the Foundation Year of training or not in training at all.


Student Member: This level of membership is if you are in Advanced Training, ie have completed the first year/Foundation year and are continuing training.


Contractual Trainee (Trainee Transactional Analyst): This level of membership is for students who have completed their advanced training and are in exam prep with an EATA endorsed CTA contract. They are practising under supervision with either a PTSTA or TSTA.

Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA): This level of membership is for members who have passed their written and oral exams in one of the TA specialities becoming a CTA and are qualified to practise.


Provisional Teaching and/or Supervising Transactional Analyst (PTSTA): This level of membership is for CTAs who have passed a training endorsement workshop (TEW) and have an EATA endorsed TSTA training contract. They are qualified to practise, training to qualify as a T/STA and can teach and/or supervise trainees.


Teaching and/or Supervising Transactional Analyst (T/STA): This level of membership is for CTAs who have passed teaching and supervising examinations. Qualified to practise, qualified to teach and/or qualified to supervise trainees, qualified members and PTSTAs.


As a member you will automatically:


  • receive ITA News which is a quarterley newsletter published by the ITA

  • receive EATA Newsletter, which is a newsletter published by EATA 3 times each year

  • be able to access the ITA members website

  • receive reduced fees for ITA events, such as national and regional conferences

  • be a member of EATA by ITAs affiliation and can register for EATAs member website

  • be able to nominate, be nominated and vote for being on ITA council at the AGM

In addition to this, you will belong to a lively, friendly institute committed to effective personal and professional relationships. You can receive advice on training and TA practice from ITA committees and council and as a Contractual Trainee, CTA, PT/STA or T/STA you may be included in the ITA Register of Practitioners provided certain criteria are met.

To join the ITA as a Regular Member or Student Member you must have either completed a TA 101 introductory course or passed a written TA 101 examination. The fees vary according to your level of training and the ITA in addition offer reduced rate membership if you choose to receive ITA News by email. The membership application form can be found here.
